Black Fly Challenge

The Annual Black Fly Challenge is now in the record book. With more than 350 riders hitting the 40-mile course between Indian Lake and Inlet, it is one of the larger bike rides in the region, but there is no competition for the diversity of bikes that can be seen out on the course. As one participant observed, there are cyclocross bikes, mountain bikes, unicycles and tandems – as well as road bikes, trail-a-bikes, and a few new variations on the pedal-powered theme.

Black Fly Challenge

The Black Fly Challenge Bike Race between Inlet and Indian Lake occurs the 2nd Saturday in June

To check out this annual Adirondack tradition for yourself, it is always the second Saturday in June, and it reverses direction each year. The ride connects Indian Lake, located on both the Central Adirondack Trail and the Adirondack Trail scenic byways, with Inlet, on the Central Adirondack Trail scenic byway.
